I only posted this here because I have bought games with Kickstarter exclusive stuff before, not found out till I was past the Steam refund window, and felt taken advantage of/ripped off because of it. So while I won't buy your incomplete game, I wish you guys nothing but the best of luck. Just the fact you responded here to me is a sign you're obviously a decent dev team with your hearts in the right places. And I want to be clear that just because you did one thing that is anti-consumer doesn't mean you are an anti-consumer company or you don't care about your audience. I'm sure there are tons of people who disagree with me. And I'd never pay a cent for a game I couldn't get 100% of. Like you said, the backers are taking a chnace and deserve a reward.īut making the full game exclusive to Kickstarter and selling an incomplete product to everyone else just isn't acceptable, IMO. I'm all for exclusive cosmetic rewards, free DLC, powerful starter gear (aka gear you'll grow out of as you play), discounts on the price of the game, non-in game digital goods (soundtracks, art books, etc) and probably a couple of other things, as Kickstarter rewards. You give away a part of the game other people can't ever get to people who were lucky enough to stumble on/had tons of extra time to dig and find your Kickstarter. That's the problem with Kickstarter exclusives. So it flew under the radar and I'm now SOL. But none of the major gaming sites (or even the smaller ones, like Rock, Paper, Shotgun) had any news about your Kickstarter. I would have backed the crap out of your game. The real issue, IMO, with Kickstarter exclusives is that unless your browsing Kickstarter just looking for new games, it's insanely easy to miss a game. And that is pretty much the definition of anti-consumer. The majority, sure, but my game will always be incomplete. I will always only be able to own part of your game. Hopefully this steers others clear as well. Glad I found this out before I bought it. If you're gana lock THAT much of your game away behind timed walls, never to be avaliable to the larger playerbase at any price, I won't touch your product with a ten foot poll, no matter how amazing and awesome it looks. This sort of crap is just not acceptable. Note to the devs, I won't be buying your game. These aren't skins, they're fully featured subs, and their lack of availability, at any price, is just sad. So there's a sub that you can only ever get if you pre-order, one you can only get if you buy the special deluxe edition (which, since anyone can buy it whenever, I should point out is perfectly fine).and the biggest sub in the game? Only ever going to be avaliable to people who kickstartered the game. I already got the Steam wallet funds reserved. So yeah, devs, thanks again! I'll be holding off my purchase till this future sub is released but I'll be buying the game for sure then. Thanks devs! The game still won't be 100% complete unless you Kickstartered it, but it'll be pretty damn close and, IMO, 99% or so is close enough for me. This is great news and the devs should be commended for this. The exact layout of the interior of the sub and the exact cosmetic appearance of the sub will be different, to keep the Kickstarter exclusive sub unique, but the future sub will fi the same role and operate simillarly to the Kickstarter exclusive sub. In other words, the future sub and Kickstarter sub will look more or less the same outside and will have more or less the same in game purpose. And while this future sub won't be identical to the Kickstarter sub, it's going to be the same class aka type. They didn't say how they'll be releasing it (as far as I know), so assume paid DLC, but IMO that's fine. BUT.the dev also said they will be releasing a different sub in the same class down the road a bit. On the Steam forums, one of the devs verified that the Kickstarter ship will be 100% exclusive forever. EDIT: While basically everything below is true, the Devs have clarified a few things that I think should be mentioned/commended.
